Who is Mr Rains?

Born in Colorado, I grew up on a small farm on the plains.  After going to a private high school,  I went to college in Durango, Colorado where I graduated with degrees in Anthropology, Business, and Elementary Education.  In 1998 our small family packed up and headed for Alaska and the great unknown.  We spent a few months living and working in Anchorage before accepting jobs teaching in rural Alaska.  We spent four wonderful years living in Brevig Mission.  My youngest was born at this time and we will always hold a special place in our hearts for the people and life in Brevig.  In 2002 our family packed up again and moved back to the road system where I accepted a job with the Mat-Su School District.  I enjoy working and playing in “The Valley” but also enjoy getting out and exploring places less traveled by many Alaskans.  As for hobbies, if it is out there I have probably  tried it.  I enjoy doing a little of everything from flying, fishing, hunting, and skeet, to computers, reading, and traveling.  

I have a wonderful wife who is the librarian at Machetanz Elem.  We have two wonderful daughters and five grandchildren!
