The PSAT 8/9 is geared for 8th and 9th graders. This preliminary SAT provides practice and is used to give parents, students, and their advisors information about a student’s strengths and weaknesses. This test generates a score report that helps you create a plan for them to improve the skills they need to graduate from high school and be ready for college. There is also a section on this test that give you information about what Advanced Placement (AP) courses your child would be ready to take.

The PSAT10 is geared for 10th graders. In terms of content and difficulty, this test is the same as the PSAT/NMSQT. What makes it different is that it is held during the Spring of 10th grade and it does not qualify students for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Alternatively, students may opt into College Board’s Student Search service where they can be connected to a different range of over $255 million in scholarships and colleges/universities can send you programming information related to applications, financial aid, and student life.

Disability Accommodations
Accommodations are available for College Board tests.
For the SAT-Suite of Assessments, you must get pre-approval for all accommodations requested. These typically must be submitted at least two months in advance of the testing date. Once you have been approved for accommodations on one College Board test, you do not need to request pre-approval for another College Board test. For this reason, we recommend applying for accommodations during your freshman year to ensure they are in place later on.
